“Live Sketching” in conferences

We recently put into action a new concept at the AAPSW Plastic Surgery Conference in Melbourne. During eight talks, real time, improvised illustrations were sketched and projected onto a second screen. The aim of this pioneering project is to improve audience engagement, and help elucidate the presenters messages.

Perhaps a different take on “Graphic recording” commonly used in non-medical conferences, “Live Sketching” is all about content and clarifying complex surgical information.

We are aiming to develop this live visual narrative as an integral part of major surgery conferences.
